ACTING & DRAMATIC ARTS

The acting and dramatic curriculum is designed to develop the actor as an individual artist and as an effective member of a creative ensemble. Each course draws from a continuum of specific techniques to develop the actor’s mind, voice, and body for a confident and honest performance before a live audience. Improvisation and scripted scenes provide fluency in the acting fundamentals of conflict, action, and given circumstances. As collaboration is essential to the creation of live theatre, the actor will develop skills of willingness and personal motivation, to listen and respond, to find creative solutions for problems as a member of a team, to confidently give voice to original ideas and grow their respect for the ideas of others.

Acting for Teens	Ages 13-19	Saturday, 11 am - 1 pm	$375
This class will focus on acting techniques for beginner and intermediate teen actors. Learn how to make a character come to life, vocal and physical warm-up methods and script analysis. Acting is a great way to improve your focus, concentration and self-confidence! Teaching Artist: Beresford Bennett

Lights, Camera, Action! Acting on Camera	Ages 6-10	Tuesday, 5 - 6:30 pm	$285
Look mom it’s me on tv! This is an exciting class in which students work on and create new scripts as they learn the difference between acting for the camera and on stage, as well as improving their cold reading skills. The end result will be the students creating their own short film. Teaching Artist: Beresford Bennett

Acting Techniques for the Beginner/Intermediate Actor	Ages 6-11	Monday, 3:30 - 5 pm	$285
"Acting Techniques" is a great introduction to what acting is all about! Students will learn acting fundamentals through a fun and interactive curriculum. We will focus on character work, concentration, memorization, as well as building self-esteem. Teaching Artist: Devon Yates

Film Acting & Production	Ages 11-17	Tuesday, 6:30 - 8 pm	$285
The students are the stars of this film! This class will go through the process of making a film using the students as their actors. They will also learn about the techniques of putting together different shots and scenes to create a clear story from start to finish. Teaching Artist: Beresford Bennett

Dramatic Play & Adventure	Ages 3-5	Saturday, 9 - 10:00 am	$195
Introduce your child to the magic of theatre arts through dramatic play! Students will expand their imaginations, learn creative movement and basic stage terminology while having a lot of fun. Teaching Artist: Rebecca Martin

Play In A Day	Ages 8-12	Saturday, 9 - 11 am	$375
The race is on! Students in this class will create a brand new play every class session. This is a fast paced chance to learn about the theatrical elements of plot, characters and settings while having fun acting. Learning ten new plays in ten weeks will stimulate creativity, enhance memory skills and create lasting friendships. Teaching Artist: Beresford Bennett
